WEAs are sent by public safety officials, the National Weather Service (for imminent threat of disaster), the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (AMBER alerts), and the President of the United States.

  • CalHHS Emergency Resource Guide

    Emergency resource guide page connects Californians with the resources needed to safely navigate an emergency or natural disaster situation. Resources include a personal emergency plan, prescription drug guide, mental health and social services, and information for individuals with a disability.

  • California Alternate Rates for Energy

    Offers a 30-35% discount on electric bills and a 20% discount on natural gas bills for qualifying ratepayers. For the CARE Program, electrical companies with 100,000 or more customer accounts in California offer a 30-35% discount, while electrical companies with fewer than 100,000 customer accounts in California offer a 20% discount.

  • California Library Literacy Services

    Adults can get no-cost instruction in reading, writing, spelling, math, basic skills, listening/speaking English, and other subjects through their local library. Family literacy programs also serve adult learners and family members.

  • California Military Department GI Bill Award Program

    The CMD GI Bill issues educational awards to qualifying members of the California Army or Air National Guard, California State Guard, and the California Naval Militia. This State Grant can pay for tuition and fees at a University of California, California State University, or a California Community College.
