  • California Medical Assistance (Medi-Cal)

    Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program that provides free or low cost medical services for children and adults with limited income and resources. Medi-Cal currently provides a core set of health benefits, including doctor visits, hospital care, immunization, pregnancy-related services and nursing home care. Medi-Cal also has mental health and substance abuse services.

  • Contraception

    Information on birth control (contraception) to prevent pregnancy and options for free or low-cost birth control, regardless of immigration status.

  • Covered California

    California’s official health insurance exchange or “marketplace” to help find affordable coverage. Covered California plans are made more affordable due to subsidies and tax credits available based on income, which can significantly reduce monthly premium costs. Participating Californians can also apply for Medi-Cal through the same joint application to determine which plan they qualify for.

    The Deaf Access Program ensures that California’s public programs are adapted to meet the communication needs of the state’s deaf and hard of hearing population. The services provided include sign language interpretation, crisis advocacy services, employment services, counseling, and independent living skills instruction.

    Every Woman Counts provides free breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to California’s underserved populations. Every Woman Counts Program mitigates the devastating medical, emotional, and financial effects of breast and cervical cancer and eliminate health disparities for medically underserved, low-income individuals.

  • Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program

    HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) provides free, confidential one-on-one counseling, education, and assistance to individuals and their families on Medicare, Long-Term Care insurance, other health insurance related issues, and planning ahead for Long-Term Care needs. HICAP also provides legal assistance or legal referrals in dealing with Medicare or Long-Term Care insurance related issues.

    Provides in-home assistance to eligible older adults, people who are blind or have low vision, and disabled individuals as an alternative to out-of-home care and enables recipients to remain safely in their own homes.
