Heat Ready CA
Heat Ready CA empowers communities to prepare for rising temperatures and extreme heat events. From practical tips on staying cool to resources for building resilience, this multiethnic public awareness campaign aims to help Californians adapt to a hotter, drier future.
Activating Trusted Messengers
Pivotal to the success for Valley Onward’s outreach is the dedication and passion of their community health workers who “serve as the heartbeat” of their efforts. Because they are members of the very communities they are trying to reach, their shared background instills a sense of trust and enables them to empathize and connect with residents on the State’s priority issues on a profound level.
Taking Climate Action
Animated videos are a user-friendly learning aid to raise public awareness about extreme heat. The learning aids were produced by OCPSC with Dr. Braden Kay, OPR’s Extreme Heat and Community Resilience Program and Dr. Alan Kwok, Climate and Disaster Resilience Consultant.
