Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
This program helps families across the state by providing nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy foods and referrals to health care and other community services. WIC serves infants and children up to age 5 and people who are pregnant or have given birth or experienced pregnancy loss. Partners, grandparents, foster parents of young children, and working families are also welcome.

Women’s Business Centers provides training, mentoring, business development and financing opportunities to women entrepreneurs. Local Centers provide free face-to-face business consulting and at-cost training on a variety of topics.

Work for Warriors
Free job placement program for use by veterans of all eras including active National Guard, active Reserve, spouses, and Gold Star families to assist in finding civilian employment to match their skillsets. Work for Warriors also provides assistance with developing a resume and honing interview skills.

Work-Study Program
Available to any eligible veteran or their dependents who are receiving VA education benefits and attending school three-quarter time or more. An individual working under this program may work at a school’s veterans office, VA Regional Office, VA Medical Facility, CalVet, or other approved State employment office.

Youth Service Corps
Youth Service Corps engages young people to help tackle critical issues in priority areas: public service, food insecurity and climate action. Youth are supported with at least minimum wage and essential wraparound services like case management, résumé preparation, special job training and other benefits to help ensure both their short- and long-term success.
